National Scenic Visitors Center: Earthwalk

Instilling the Passion to Explore and the Will to Protect

A ten year project to produce the largest walkable relief map in existence. Supporting the NSVC leadership team, One Giant Leap is raising funds, building a national board of directors, and promoting phase one of the project, Earthwalk Explorer, to eastern U.S. museums and science centers.

A Virtual Reality project designed to change the way young Americans think about race, The Witness Project transports students to seminal moments in Black American history. A "Roots for a new generation," the project provides the unique opportunity to come to terms with the past, right the present, and move forward to a new, inclusive future.

eCYBERMISSION

Real Students using STEM techniques in the Real World

One Giant Leap is partnering with ROAM to build a Virtual Reality science and engineering lab for the NSTA’s eCYBERMISSION program. Enrolled middle school students will have access to an experience blending the latest VR technology, fresh science content, and immersive learning theory. The sky is the limit!

BioBlitz

A twenty-four hour citizen science experience designed to immerse and empower people of all ages in nature and to contribute useable data to science.

Co-led National Geographic team commemorating the 2016 National Parks Service Centennial by producing 269 citizen science events in all fifty states. Over 80,000 people participated, resulting in 102,000 species identified. Set vision for culminating event on the National Mall, a two-day festival including biodiversity inventories, jumbotron species counter, and events for school, family, and GenX audiences.

GeoBee

An iconic American education program inspiring over two million elementary and middle school students annually.

Refreshed GeoBee television program to including more gameplay, new celebrity host, and new student challenges increasing viewership on cable and public broadcasting stations. Set strategy for GeoBee school, state, and national level editorial, marketing, and distribution, and led efforts to extend GeoBee brand in apps, games and voice platforms, including Amazon Alexa, iOS, Google Home, and Kahoot!

National Geographic Live! Student Matinees

Stage performances by the greatest living scientists, photographers, and adventurers.

Built the program to include live events series in fourteen cities across the U.S, Canada, and northern Europe, bringing powerful messages of conservation, sustainability, and empowerment to 42,000 students annually. Partnered with performing arts spaces, regional and national sponsors, and local museums, zoos, and aquariums to increase audiences and impact.

Giant Traveling Maps

Touring fleet of gym-size maps of North America, Africa, Asia, South America, Europe, and the Pacific Ocean.

Founded and managed the program, resulting in 1.6 million American and Canadian students experiencing geography in fully immersive, tactile, and visually rich ways. Led creative map design, user experience design, application of learning theory, curriculum development, fundraising, and implementation of business model. Secured funding from Google, Oracle, and individual donors.

iSpark Saudi Arabia

Annual edutainment festival in Ad Dammam Saudi Arabia.

Partnered with the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture and Saudi Aramco to expand access to science and culture to Saudi youth. Led National Geographic education team deployed to Ad-Dammam to plan and staff photography exhibits, Giant Maps, speakers, interactive games, and engaging hands-on experiments for 5,500 Saudi youth and families.

National Geographic Explorers Camp

In partnership with Fairmont Resorts, designed one-of-a-kind camp experience for children of hotel guests (ages 5-12).

Daylong program focused on exploration, inspiration, and stewardship and included a Photo Safari, Desert Discovery, visiting explorers, and Geo Trivia. Envisioned the experience, led the project design and implementation, created the business model, worked with hotel leadership to identify business objectives, and trained staff.
